The Wye Valley is a beautiful place so please be a responsible visitor. Here are some tips on how you can help
Use local products and services. They give you a flavour of the area and help support local communities. We are fortunate to have some fantastic producers of food, drink, and arts and crafts. Take a stroll to the Brockweir Village Shop where you can have a coffee and buy a great selection of local items including wild boar sausage rolls from Cinderhill Farm, bread from Wigmore's Bakery in Monmouth, local cheeses and local fruit and veg.
Please respect the local community and other people using the outdoors. Remember your actions can affect people’s lives and livelihoods. Click here to see a copy of the The Country Code
Travel in an environmental sensitive way. There are lots of fantastic walks from the door or why not take the 69 bus to Monmouth and walk back along the river or to Chepstow and the start of the Wye Valley Walk and take in Eagles Nest on the walk back.
If you are driving the lanes and you meet walkers coming towards you then please stop and allow them to pass safely. If they are walking in the same direction you are traveling then slow down and allow them to move off the road onto a safe verge.
We don't charge for extra use of utilities but please think about the environment and turn off lights when not being used - we are in an area of low light pollution and would like to keep it that way. Only use the water you need - why not share a bath or shower! The water here is great to drink so no need to buy plastic bottles of drinking water. We don't have the heating on a timer as we are all different and keep very different hours on holiday but please turn off the heating when out for the day and at the end of your stay. As we are not on mains drains we need to be careful what goes down the sink and the toilet is strictly for the 3Ps (Pee, Pooh and Paper) so please use the FabLittleBag to dispose of anything else.
