We all love the idea of a retro VW air cooled camper van but we don’t want the maintenance, worry storage problems or expensive bills when something goes wrong. So, at the Moody Cow we take care of it all for you. You can complete the greater part of your journey to the heart of the Wye Valley in your own car, and then leave it in our secure car park and then after a brief introduction go off and explore the scenery and attractions that the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Welsh Marches has to offer. For those of you wanting to travel by public transport the nearest train stations are Ledbury and Gloucester – approximately a £25 ride away.

Ermintrude is our 1972 classic air cooled VW camper van but she has been completely modernised to ensure that you have everything you need to enjoy your get away. We don’t expect you to be doing a great deal of cooking, but there is a modern hob and sink, fridge, electric hook up, on board pumped water, Bluetooth radio and USB sockets to charge your smart device. Two adults can sleep in comfort and if you want to invite guests to join you for a cold beer or a glass or two of wine you can also hire our spacious retro awning which is equipped with a real wood burning stove. .

Freedom Camper – Free to go to any local campsite of your choice. No bell tent. Weekend hire, Friday to Sunday £450 Mid week Hire, Monday to Thursday £495 ( check in 3.00pm, return 12.00pm) Campsite Based Camper – Based at one of our participating campsites. Bell tent awning already erected before your arrival. Enjoy daytrips in Ermintrude and return to base each night.
